Terms of Use
Last updated: 31 August 2026
These terms cover your use of Stacked — the website at trystacked.app and the Stacked mobile app. By creating an account or using Stacked, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please don't use Stacked.
1. Stacked is education, not financial advice
This is the most important thing on this page. Stacked teaches general concepts about budgeting, saving, credit, investing, loans, taxes and related topics. It does not know your circumstances and is not a licensed financial adviser, broker, tax preparer or lender.
- We are not financial advisers. Neither Stacked nor anyone who makes it is a licensed or registered financial adviser, investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax preparer, accountant, attorney, credit counsellor, insurance producer or lender, in any jurisdiction.
- No adviser relationship is created. Using Stacked, creating an account, completing a lesson or a real-life sub-quest, or contacting us through the feedback form does not create an adviser–client, fiduciary, professional or confidential relationship between you and us, and we owe you no duty to act in your financial interest.
- Nothing in Stacked is personalised financial, investment, tax, legal, credit or insurance advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation, endorsement, solicitation or offer to buy, sell or hold any financial product, take on any loan, or use any particular bank, broker, lender, employer or service — including any named in a lesson or a sub-quest.
- The Budget tool and the simulators are teaching aids. They work only on numbers you type in yourself, they connect to no bank or financial institution, and their output is an illustration — not a projection of what will happen to you.
- Lessons contain simplified examples, and figures such as interest rates, tax bands, contribution limits, aid deadlines and prices are illustrative, change over time and may be out of date or wrong for where you live. Nothing here is guaranteed to be complete, current or accurate.
- Real-life sub-quests are optional walkthroughs. A module’s step-by-step guide describes, in general terms, what a real task such as opening an account or filling in a form usually involves. It is not instructions for your situation, it is not a substitute for the forms, terms and rules of the institution you are actually dealing with, and you are never required to do one — every module completes without it.
- Your decisions are yours. You are solely responsible for what you do with your own money, and for checking anything you learn here against your own circumstances. Before making a real financial decision, talk to a qualified professional who can look at your actual situation.
2. Your account
- You need an account to use Stacked, and you must give an email address you control.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else has access, change it or contact us.
- One account per person. Don't share an account, and don't create accounts to game streaks, rewards or the referral system.
- Stacked is written for college and university students and is not directed at children under 13. Don't create an account if you are under 13. See section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
3. Coins, diamonds, badges and items
Coins, diamonds, XP, streaks, badges, shop items and room items are part of the game. They exist only inside Stacked.
- They have no monetary value, cannot be bought with real money, and cannot be exchanged, cashed out or transferred to anyone else.
- They are a licence to use a feature of the app, not property you own, and we may adjust balances or item availability as the app changes.
- Deleting your account deletes them. Nothing is refundable, because nothing was paid for.
4. What you may not do
- Break the law with it, or use it to harm, harass or impersonate anyone.
- Try to break, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to Stacked, its servers, or anyone else's account or data.
- Automate access — scraping, bots, or scripted play — or reverse engineer the app except where the law says you may.
- Copy or redistribute Stacked's lessons, questions or artwork outside the app without our permission.
- Send abusive, illegal or deliberately misleading content through the feedback form.
If you do any of this we may suspend or delete your account. Where it's reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
5. Content you send us
The things you type — budget figures, quest answers, survey responses, feedback messages — stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them for the purpose of running Stacked and improving it, and nothing more. What we hold and for how long is set out in the Privacy Policy.
6. Our content
Stacked's lessons, questions, artwork (including Hammy), design and code belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use them inside Stacked for your own learning, for as long as your account exists.
7. Cost
Stacked is currently free to use, with no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no advertising. If that ever changes, we will say so clearly before it applies to you, and existing content you have already unlocked will not be taken away and re-sold to you.
8. Ending it
- You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: Settings → Delete my account. It removes your login and everything saved to it, permanently.
- We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, and we may stop offering Stacked altogether. If we shut the service down we will give reasonable notice where we can.
9. Availability and "as is"
Stacked is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy. We don't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that its content is complete, current or correct. We may change or remove features as the app develops.
Lessons and the Sources & References list link to third-party websites — government agencies, regulators and publications. We don't control those sites, we're not responsible for what is on them or for what happens if you act on it, and a link is not an endorsement.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising out of or connected to your use of Stacked or your reliance on anything in it. That expressly includes any financial loss, lost money, lost opportunity, tax penalty, credit consequence, debt or other damage arising from a decision you make after using Stacked, its lessons, its tools or its real-life sub-quests — see section 1 — and any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, in which case those don't apply to you and our liability is limited to the minimum the law allows.
11. Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, the date at the top will change and the updated terms will be posted here before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Stacked afterwards means you accept them.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
